A Body-led Approach To Painting

A playful space to slow down, release tension, and reconnect with yourself — no art experience required.

Your Paint & Release Experience

Let the paint hold what the mind & body no longer needs

Paint & Release is an in-person somatic painting experience — not an art class, and not a paint-and-sip. Instead of following instructions or aiming for a finished product, you’re guided to paint intuitively, at your own pace, with the focus on process rather than outcome.

There is no right way to paint here. You don’t need skills, talent, or a plan — just a willingness to show up as you are.

  • Quiet the mind and soften mental chatter

  • Move stress and emotion through the body using color and motion

  • Explore creativity in a safe, non-judgmental space

The Space

Paint & Release takes place in a calm, intentionally designed environment that supports ease and presence.

The space is quiet, comfortable, and free from visual or social overwhelm. Materials are provided, and you’re encouraged to wear clothing you don’t mind getting paint on.

Many people comment on how quickly their body settles once they arrive.

How It Feels

How a Session Flows

Each session follows a gentle, predictable flow to help you feel safe and settled:

  • Arrival & settling
We begin by slowing down and orienting to the space.

  • Guided regulation
Simple prompts help your body arrive before painting begins.

  • Somatic & intuitive painting
You paint freely, without instruction, interpretation, or critique.

  • Closing & integration
The session ends with time to ground and transition back into your day.

Participants Often Walk Away With

While everyone’s experience is different, many participants notice after their Paint & Release session:

  • A sense of calm or grounding in their body

  • Emotional release without needing to talk it through

  • Reduced mental noise and internal pressure

  • A renewed connection to intuition and creativity

  • Feeling softer, clearer, or more regulated afterward

Nothing is forced, and nothing is “supposed” to happen — the experience meets you where you are.

Who This Is For

This experience is especially supportive for people who:

• Want a pressure-free, non-performative creative space

• Feel emotionally full, creatively blocked, or mentally overstimulated

• Don’t want to talk things through, but want to move and express

Leave lighter, clearer, and more connected.

The Intention Behind Paint & Release Co.

Paint & Release was created from a deep belief that creativity can be a doorway back to ourselves — especially when words fall short.

I hold these sessions as a guide and facilitator, not an instructor. My role is to create a safe, attuned environment where your body can lead and your expression can unfold naturally.

This work is rooted in nervous-system awareness, curiosity, and respect for each person’s internal timing.

Please note: Paint & Release Co. is a creative and expressive workshop and is not a substitute for professional therapy or medical treatment.

Your Questions, Answered

  • No experience is required.

This is not a traditional art class. You won’t be taught technique, perspective, or “how to make it look good.”

Paint & Release is about expression — not performance. Your body leads. The paint holds what words sometimes can’t.

  • Each 2-hour workshop includes:

    • Gentle grounding to settle your nervous system

    • Guided prompts to access emotion and sensation

    • Open, intuitive painting time

    • Optional reflection and integration

It’s structured enough to feel safe, but spacious enough to feel free.

  • No — this is not therapy, though it can feel therapeutic.

Paint & Release Co. offers somatic-inspired creative experiences, not clinical mental health services. It’s a supportive space for expression, but it does not replace professional therapy.

  • That’s welcome here.

You are always in choice. You can step back, pause, move your body, or ask for support. The space is trauma-aware and designed to feel grounded, not overwhelming.

You won’t be pushed to share anything you don’t want to.

  • • Wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on

    • Bring water if you’d like

    • Come as you are

    All painting materials are provided.

Paint & Release Co. offers intuitive painting workshops and creative wellness experiences in the Somerville and Central New Jersey area.
