What is Paint & Release?

Paint & Release is a guided painting experience — different from a traditional art class and a paint-and-sip.

You'll be invited to explore color, movement, and expression through a series of playful, optional prompts. Rather than learning a technique or trying to create something “good,” you'll have space to follow your own curiosity and see what happens.

You don't need to know what you're going to paint.

You don't need to consider yourself creative.

You don't need to explain anything.

Just come ready to play.

It’s less about what you create.

More about how you create.

Many of us spend our days thinking, planning, solving, responding, and trying to get everything right.

For a little while, you don't have to.

There's nothing to recreate.
Nothing to perfect.
Nothing to prove.

Just paint.

Paint quietly, move your whole body, laugh, surprise yourself.

Every experience looks different because every person is different.

How it unfolds

ARRIVE

Come into a space where everything is already prepared for you.

Your painting surface, supplies, and creative space are ready to go.

No setup. No pressure.

GROUND

We'll begin with a simple grounding practice to help you transition out of the busyness of everyday life and into the room.

EXPLORE

We'll warm up with playful exercises on a medium-sized paper before moving into a larger 3’ x4’ paper.

You'll receive optional prompts to encourage curiosity, movement, and expression — never instructions for what your painting should look like.

CLOSE

We'll slow down together before you head back into your day.

You can reflect on what you experienced, or simply appreciate what you made.

No interpretation required.

Why paper?

We intentionally paint on paper because we find that canvas tends to subconsciously create pressure to make something “good” or worth keeping. Paper helps take that expectation off the table, leaving more room to experiment, play, and simply see what happens.

And interestingly, many participants end up wanting to keep what they create — framing their paintings or taking photographs of them afterward.

Who this is for?

Maybe you…

  • Want to try something creative but don't consider yourself an artist.

  • Miss making things just for the sake of making them.

  • Spend a lot of time in your head and want to do something more physical and intuitive.

  • Want a different kind of night out.

  • Are curious about what happens when you stop trying to make something “good.”

  • Just want to do something you've never done before.

You don't need a reason.

The Studio

Come paint in the studio.

Paint & Release takes place in our intentionally designed creative studio in the Somerville-area of New Jersey.

Everything is prepared for you — from the materials to your painting space — so you can arrive, settle in, and start creating.

Wear clothes you don't mind getting paint on. We'll take care of the rest.

Ready ? Come paint with us.

Your first time?

That's exactly who this experience is designed for.

You don't need to bring anything, prepare anything, or know anything about painting.

The Intention Behind Paint & Release Co.

Paint & Release grew from a simple belief:

Creativity can help us reconnect with ourselves.

When there are no expectations, no judgment, and no pressure to create something "good," painting becomes less about the outcome and more about the experience.

My role isn't to teach you how to paint or tell you what your artwork means.

It's to create a safe, supportive environment where you can slow down, explore freely, and let your own expression unfold.

Every person brings something different into the space, and every experience is unique. My role is simply to guide and hold that space with care.

Paint & Release Co. is a creative experience designed to support self-expression and exploration. It is not therapy or a substitute for medical or mental health treatment.
